WASHINGTON (Web Desk) – The United States is all set to sell eight new F-16 fighter jets to Pakistan in a bid to strengthen bilateral ties, reported New York Times on Thursday.
According to the report US Congress has been notified about the proposed sale of F-16 jet planes to Pakistan.
The newspaper however avoided to mention whether announcement of the sell will be made public during current visit of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to White House or not.
It is also unclear if Congress will approve the deal or not in a situation when Congress and the State Department are already in a standoff over an effort to sell used Navy cutter vessels to Pakistan earlier this year.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and US President Barack Obama are scheduled to hold bilateral dialogue in White House on Thursday.
The meeting is expected to remain confined to the matters related to extension of US military stay in Afghanistan and worsening ties between Pakistan and India.
