Three death row convicts hanged in Punjab jails

FAISALABAD/ GUJRANWALA (Web Desk) – As many as three death house inmates have been hanged in two Punjab cities early this morning, local media reported on Thursday.

Three of the convicted murderers were scheduled to be executed in Faisalabad’s District Jail today. However, one of them, Zafar Iqbal, was sent to gallows. Hanging of the other two—Nizamud Din and Muhammed Hussain—has been stayed.

Convict Zafar took life of a woman who resisted his robbery attempt in 2005 in Sargodha Road area of Mughalpura.

Nizam Din killed a man over a dispute in Batala Colony in 1998. Another convict Muhammed Hussain assassinated a person in Gojra in the same year.

In Gujranwala’s Central Jail, two condemned prisoners were hanged. Aijaz murdered his neighbor over exchange of heated words in 1995.

The other death row convict, Abdul Jabbar slew his friend who demanded his watch back from him in 2008.
