Bangladesh humiliates Pakistan in first ODI

MIRPUR (Web Desk) – Bangladesh on Friday defeated Pakistan by 79 runs in the first of three matches ODI series when green shirts collapsed at 250 runs while chasing the target of 330 runs.

Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiq-ur-Rehman lead Bangladesh to set a target of 330 runs when the captain chose to bat first after winning the toss.

Both players raised a record partnership of 178 runs for the 3rd wicket when Tamim scored 132 runs off 135 balls whereas Mushfiq thrashed 106 against only 77 balls.

Pakistan’s Wahab Riaz remained the most successful bowler to pick 4 wickets for 55 runs and Rahat Ali managed for one wicket.

Pakistan skipper Azhar Ali scored 73 runs whereas the debutante Muhammad Rizwan also raised 67 runs. Haris Sohail was caught out at 51 runs.

Bangladesh’s Taskin Ahmad and Arafat Sunny picked three wickets each .

Pakistan’s squad was led by Azhar Ali, the newly appointed skipper of the 50-over format team after retirement of Misbah-ul-Haq and Shahid Afridi.

Saeed Ajmal, who was previously banned by ICC, was part of playing eleven after he cleared his bowling action while Junaid Khan and Muhammad Hafeez were also  included in the team after recovering from their injuries.
