KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Tuesday announced to issue a special coin in honour of celebrated humanitarian Abdul Sattar Edhi on March 31.
Edhi, who founded Pakistan’s largest welfare organizations single handedly for deprived segment of the society, died in July 2016.
He was honored with country’s state funeral. The funeral was attended by the army chief and top politicians of the country.
The State Bank said last year it would issue a commemorative coin of Rs. 50 in memory of late Abdul Sattar Edhi as a small token of appreciation to remember him in the history of Pakistan.
Edhi and his team established maternity wards, morgues, orphanages, shelters, and homes aimed at helping poor people.
