BEIJING – Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed peaceful resolution of the North Korean nuclear issue in a phone call with US counterpart Donald Trump on Wednesday, according to a report by China’s state television.
“Xi Jinping has stressed that China insists on denuclearisation on the Korean Peninsula to firmly safeguard peace and stability on the peninsula and calls for peaceful means to solve problems,” according to the CCTV report.
Xi added that Beijing wanted to maintain communications with Washington on the matter.
The conversation with Trump came at a time of heightened tensions in the Korean peninsula amid Pyongyang’s escalating nuclear threats.

Referring the recent meeting the Xi Jinping, the US president took to twitter as saying, “I explained to the President of China that a trade deal with the U.S. will be far better for them if they solve the North Korean problem!”

The United States has warned North Korea of consequences on not halting nuclear programme by sending its aircraft carrier, the USS Carl Vinson, to the Sea of Japan.
After the orders of President Donald Trup, the United States has launched missile strikes on April 7 targeting a Syrian airbase controlled by President Bashar al-Assad’s forces in response to a suspected chemical weapons attack on a rebel-held town.
According to Pentagon official, about 50 Tomahawk cruise missiles were fired from Navy destroyers in the eastern Mediterranean at the airbase.
