SHC reserves verdict over Dr Asim s ECL plea

KARACHI – The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday reserved its judgement over former petroleum minister Dr Asim Hussain’s plea of striking his name off the Exit Control List (ECL).

Dr Hussain, a close aide of former president and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, is facing several charges including corruption of Rs 479 billion and providing treatment and protection to terrorists at a hospital owned by him.

He has moved the court seeking removal of his name from ECL as he wants to go abroad for surgery.

During last hearing, the federal government had decline to remove his name from the list giving the reasons that name has been put on ECL on the order of SHC and recommendation of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
