British minister sacked over misconduct found mysteriously dead

LONDON – An ex-Welsh Labour minister who faced a party investigation into allegations about his personal life was mysteriously found dead on Tuesday.

The 49-year-old Carl Sargeant was ousted from office of cabinet secretary for communities and children last Friday after the first minister Carwyn Jones came to know about a number of alleged incidents involving women.

Mr Sargeant, who was married and had two children, was found dead at his home in Connah’s Quay, Flintshire and a family statement said they were ‘devastated beyond words’ at the loss of ‘the glue that bound us together’.

Paying tribute, the first minister said that the deceased Carl was a friend as well as a colleague and he was shocked and deeply saddened by his death.

On the other hand, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said the death was “deeply shocking news”.

Let it be known that soon after the scandal hit headlines in UK, Sargeant had vowed to clear his name and investigators are also looking into a possible suicide attempt.
