PTI spox clears the air over Ch Nisar s inclusion in party

ISLAMABAD – The spokesperson of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has clarified that the reports regarding the inclusion of former Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan in Imran Khan-led party had ‘no basis in truth’.

Responding to speculations that the former ministry might be ditching his parent Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz to join Imran’s camp, Fawad Chaudhry stated on Monday that the PTI leadership did not meet Nisar.

In his statement, the spokesperson said that the PTI chief had returned to his home after a busy day spent at party membership camps in Rawalpindi.

Over claims that senior leaders of the party tried to cajole the PML-N leader, Fawad explained that PTI’s former secretary general Jahangir Tareen had also “spent a busy day” alongside Imran Khan.

Moreover, Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi, who is currently at this residence in Multan, had not met Nisar either, the statement asserted.

Let it be known that the clarification comes on the heels of media reports aired by ARY News that Ch Nisar would be joining PTI in the current month.

The TV channels senior correspondent, without naming anyone had revealed that PTI leaders had held ‘backdoor meetings’ with the PML-N topgun to convince him to join the opposition party that is busy in wooing voters ahead of the upcoming electoral battle.
