Skincare 101: Six homemade masks and scrubs for Monsoon

LAHORE – Monsoon is one such season where it not only brings some pleasurable experiences for heart and mind but also a new set of skin problems which are quite irritating.

This season requires extra skin care to fight humidity and dampness.  It is unavoidable to escape the humid weather and it is quite important to maintain healthy glowing skin at the same time. Here are few easy to make masks and scrub for protecting skin and enhancing beauty care:

1# Oatmeal and egg mask: In a bowl, mix together 3 tsp. oatmeal, 1 eggs whites and 1 tsp. each of honey and curd. Make sure this turns into a nice smooth paste consistency. Now apply this paste onto the cleansed face. Let it stay for some time. Wash off with regular water after half an hour.

2# Gramflour, turmeric, lemon and rose water mask: Mix one tsp. of gram powder (besan) with a pinch of turmeric. Squeeze in 2-3 drops of lemon juice and add 1-2 tsp. of rose water to make a paste. Apply this pack onto the face and wash off after 15-20 minutes. This is suitable for all skin types, except for those who have sensitive skin. It will help in imparting a natural glow to the skin.

3#  Oatmeal and rose water mask: In a bowl, mix together 3 tsp. oatmeal, 1 tbsp. rose water and 1 tsp. each of honey and curd. Make sure this turns into a nice smooth paste consistency. Now apply this paste onto the cleansed face. Let it stay for some time. Wash off with regular water after half an hour.
Use this mix twice a week.

4# Almond Face Mask:  The almond face mask is extremely good to be used on normal, oily and dull skin, especially during the rainy days. It is also good to prevent the aging signs on the skin. In order to make your own almond face mask to be used during monsoons, you need to take a few almonds and soak them in milk. Blend the almonds to make a paste. Add one spoon of honey to it and apply this mixture on the face. Leave it for 20 minutes and wash off with cold water to let this Indian face mask do all the trick during the rainy days.

5# Fresh fruit mask: In a bowl, place a 1inch piece each of banana, apple, peach, 1 strawberry (or add any fruits of your choice) and 1 tsp honey. Now mash all these using a fork. Alternatively, you may blend these in a blender too. Apply this thick paste onto your face and wait for few minutes.

6# Mint And Banana Mask: Take a handful of fresh mint leaves. Now take half a banana and add one spoon of yogurt and lemon juice to it. Blend the mint and banana mixture together to make a thick paste. Apply this paste on your face and allow it to dry for some time. Rinse off with warm water after 10 minutes. This face mask for rainy days is the best to treat your skin right.
