LAHORE – Meesha Shafi and Ali Zafar’s case started the #MeToo movement in Pakistan on another level altogether. Meesha claimed that Ali had sexually harassed her not once, but multiple times. “This happened to be despite the fact that I am an empowered, accomplished woman who is known for speaking her mind! This happened to me as a mother of two children”, she had shared.
Now the latest is that Meesha has submitted a reply to Ali’s defamation notice.
“Meesha’s claims are the statement of truth, therefore it was her right under the law to file a complaint against Ali Zafar,” Ahmed Pansota, from Meesha’s legal team, said. “We have made it clear with our previous response that our client was harassed by Ali. So we’re sure to prove the same with evidences.”
Ali’s legal team representative, Ambreen Qureshi, stated, “Thank God they have finally given the due respect to the law, this was their last chance given by the court.”
