US Supreme Court judge hospitalized with three broken ribs

WASHINGTON – A United States Supreme Court judge is in hospital after fracturing three ribs in fall at court, according to local media.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, 85, went to George Washington University Hospital in Washington early Thursday after experiencing discomfort overnight. The supreme court says the fall occurred Wednesday evening.

Ginsburg broke two ribs in a fall in 2012, according to Associated Press. She has had two prior bouts with cancer and had a stent implanted to open a blocked artery in 2014.

Ginsburg, who has served on the high court since 1993, is an icon among progressives.
