Four killed, one injured in Balochistan coalmine blast

QUETTA – Four labourers were killed while one sustained serious injuries in a coalmine blast in Balochistan on Wednesday.

Rescue sources revealed that the blast occurred due to filling of poisonous gas in the coalmine in the area of Dakki in the southwestern province.

Four coalminers died on the spot, while another was injured, according to sources.

The bodies and injured have been shifted to hospital.

A major portion of the mine had collapsed due to fog and efforts were going on to clean the mine, the Chief Mining Inspector said.

About 60 people were working in the mine when the blast occurred, coalminers said.

Rescue sources said that they were facing difficulty due to non-availability of a hospital in the nearby area.
