Terrorists’ attack on Mianwali check post thwarted by Punjab police

MIANWALI – Punjab Police on Sunday night foiled a terrorist attack on Mianwali check post as militants stormed the area with rocket launchers and explosives.

A group of around 12-14 militant stormed Kabul Khel police checkpoint in Mianwali. The attack was carried out by Khawarij terrorists with rocket launchers and hand grenades.

The militants launched an assault on the checkpoint in middle of the night. The officers on duty however responded with intense gunfire, forcing the terrorists to flee. The attackers managed to escape the area under police control.

Two police officers sustained minor injuries during the exchange, but no lives were lost. A search operation has been launched to capture the fleeing terrorists.

Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, commended bravery and vigilance of the officers at the Kabul Khel checkpoint, noting that this marks the ninth terrorist attack on Punjab Police in recent months that has been successfully thwarted.

Law enforcers continues to stand as a strong barrier against militants at inter-provincial borders, IGP said, reiterating commitment to crush enemy’s nefarious designs.
