Kulbhushan Jadhav’s extradition not on the cards, says Sartaj Aziz

ISLAMABAD – Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Friday confirmed that the government was not considering any option to extradite Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav.

Briefing the upper house of the parliament Sartaj said an FIR had been registered against the alleged Indian agent. He also refuted his earlier statement regarding lack od evidence against Jadhav.

Senator Talha Mehmood questioned the adviser whether the government was planning to give the same ‘red carpet’ treatment to Jadhav as done in case of CIA contractor Raymond Davis.

‘We have prepared an FIR and a case in the process of registration to prosecute Indian state actor for involvement in subversive and terrorist activities in Pakistan,’ he told the Senate in response to the query.

Regarding Indian involvement in internal affairs of Pakistan and launching subversive activities, he expressed that the government has shared a dossier with the UN Secretary General comprising of details about Kulbashan Jadhav and his activities.

He went on and noted that sharing dossier was not the only route to deal this issue and prosecuting RAW operative was the right manner to settle the issue for which the case was being prepared.

Aziz claimed that the international community was accepting Pakistan’s viewpoint regarding Jadhav while the government has also sent a questionnaire to Indian government on the matter.

PPP stalwart Aitzaz Ahsan once again went hard on premier Nawaz Sharif and recalled his challenge of donating Rs 50,000 to Pakistan Association of the Blind if he [Nawaz Sharif] names Kulbashan Jadhav in his speech.

However, Aziz replied that the premier would speak about Kulbashan Yadav on appropriate time.
