Record holder, World’s oldest chicken is 21 now

Peanut, a 21-year-old hen who has spent her days on a farm in Waterloo, Michigan was crowned as the world’s oldest living chicken by Guinness World Records.

Her Guardian and family recently celebrated her 21st birthday.

For context, the average lifespan for a chicken is around 5-10 years, but it can vary a lot.

According to Parker Darwin, the guardian of the peanuts, she gives her many birds lots of love and care and ensures they feed well.

She acknowledges, though, that Peanut could have received some preferential care as a result of her unique nature.

Parker Darwin remarked that Peanut was “definitely a favourite, in part because she didn’t think she was a chicken.” “She sprang into my arms whenever she had the chance. If I could, she preferred to ride in my pocket.

Parker Darwin expresses hope that Peanut will do well: “I’m really hopeful! She may be arthritic, slouch a little, and occasionally trip over herself, but I do too, you know.  She should be alright, in my opinion.”
