MEDINA – An eminent Quran reciter from Pakistan was laid to rest at al-Baqi Cemetery in Medina on Tuesday, according to al-Arab al-Yawm.
Originally from Pakistan, Sheikh Khalil Abdul Rahman was a senior Qari known as the Sheikh of imams of the Two Holy Mosques.
He was born in Muzaffarabad, Pakistan, in 1940.
In 1966, he traveled to Iran and stayed there for a few years to teach the Quran.
Later, he went to Saudi Arabia and trained a number of top Quran reciters, including Sheikh Muhammad Ayyub and his own sons Sheikh Muhammad and Sheikh Mahmood.
