CPEC is a gift to me from China, Nawaz told lawmakers

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has told lawmakers that the $46 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project is a gift from China to him.

Chairing the meeting of his party members, the primer vowed that CPEC is a gift to him, implying that there would have been no CPEC without the incumbent PML-N government.

PM Nawaz also shared the achievements of his current stint and assured his party officials that the government would bag even more success in the coming days. He asserted that party officials should not fear for upcoming elections as PML-N would achieve much to launch the election campaign.

Reportedly, the Prime minister took aim at his political foes mainly PTI chief Imran khan for his politics of agitation. Nawaz Sharif blamed him for spoiling the visit of Chinese President in 2014 due to sit in.

During the meeting, some of his party members showed resentment over the lack of availability of ministers and slow pace of development projects in their constituencies.

An interesting incident also happened during the meeting when an MNA, Asad Ur Rehman (Brother of former Supreme Court Judge Khalil Ur Rehman Ramday), tried to take the mic but was refused. He expressed that the premier should hold these type of interactions more often.

Later, talking to a local television, Asad Ur Rehman quipped:

“I just said if you {PM} keep meeting us, you will not get sick, which annoyed him”
