Pakistan Railways retakes Royal Palm Country Club from defaulter management

LAHORE – Federal Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique has claimed that the Pakistan Railways has taken back possession of the Royal Palm Country Club in Lahore from its management, which owns the department billions of rupees in delayed payments.

Addressing a news conference in Lahore, he said the club was constructed on Railway land awarded on an illegal lease contract without any tender process, during the tenure of a dictator.

The Minister alleged that through forgery, the annual rent of the club was reduced from twenty one million and six hundred thousand rupees to two million, one hundred and sixty six thousand rupees.

On the occasion, he went on to allege that the club’s management had also failed to pay to rent to Pakistan Railways for last two years.

Since its repossession drive, Pakistan Railways has announced to open the Royal Palm Country Club as Pakistan Railways Golf and Country Club after Eid-ul-Fitr vacations.
