Champions Trophy 2017 – India vs South Africa (Group B): Who will qualify for semi-final if rain washes out the match?

LAHORE – The Champions Trophy with all its excitement is exciting cricket fans across the world owing to unexpected outcomes, be it a contest between Pakistan and India or between India and Sri Lanka.

But if one wants to point out a consistent performer, the rain would emerge victorious as it dented almost every encounter of the thrilling tournament.

If the consistent performer intercepts two upcoming matches of Group B, i.e one between India and South Africa and then Pakistan’s clash with Sri Lanka, then all the four teams including Pakistan will end up with three points. In that case, India and South Africa will qualify for semis due to their better run-rate.

In case only the encounter between India and South Africa is washed out, India would sail through to the semi- finals and on the other hand, if Pakistan-Sri Lanka match gets abandoned by rain, Sri Lanka would reserve its spot in semi-finals.

So, in simple terms if both the matches are abandoned due to rain, India and Sri Lanka would head to semi-finals and subsequently Green Shirts and Proteas would make their way back home due to run-rate that becomes pivotal in case clouds interfere.
