A shocking report from the Ministry of Education has revealed that over 26 million children across Pakistan are currently out of school, underscoring a major educational crisis in the country.

According to the written report submitted to the National Assembly, a total of 26.2 million children are not attending school, spanning various age groups and levels of education.

The report highlights that 10.77 million children between the ages of 5 and 9 are not enrolled in school. This group includes 4.97 million boys and 5.80 million girls who are missing out on primary education.

The situation is equally dire for middle-school-aged children (ages 10 to 12), with 4.93 million out of school. Of these, 2.11 million boys and 2.83 million girls are unable to access middle-level education.

High school dropout rates are also concerning, as 4.55 million students, including 2.31 million boys and 2.24 million girls, are not receiving secondary education.

This report from the Ministry of Education highlights a severe challenge to Pakistan’s education system, with millions of children deprived of learning opportunities. The consequences of this educational gap could be long-lasting, impacting the nation’s progress and development for years to come.
