These simple tricks will protect your feet in winters

LAHORE –  Winters are here and it’s time to protect our skin from being getting dry and cracked up. Our feet need much care in the winter as they do in the summer.

The feet care does not only includes pedicures but also choosing the right footwear and keeping our feet warm and soft.

The dry winter air and cold temperatures are hard on feet. Most people would do best to take the necessary safety steps to keep foot and ankle clean and protected. Follow these simple tricks to protect your feet from the cold temperatures:

Socks with glycerine: Apply glycerine to your feet before going to sleep and put on thick cotton socks for the night. It also helps to soften the skin on the whole foot.

Soak your feet in lemon juice: Add two tablespoons of lemon juice in a tub filled with water and soak your feet for few minutes it will help in softening the heels and removing the cracks.

Moisturize regularly: Feet tend to become dry and cracked in the winter. Avoid painful toes by moisturizing daily. Look for creams and lotions with rich ingredients like Shea Butter, Coconut Oil or Rosemary and Peppermint extracts.

Feet bath: Soak your feet in warm water to keep them clean and dirt free. Add 2-3 tbsp of baking soda and 1 tbsp of liquid soap to 1/2-1 gal of warm water.

Put your feet in the water and keep them there for 25 minutes so that the skin becomes softer. After that, take your feet out and remove the hardened layer of the callus.

Try keeping your feet dry: Our feet need to stay warm in winters, but trapping heat can lead to moisture build-up. Wear a light synthetic sock, to wick moisture away from the to a thicker wool outer sock where moisture is absorbed and evaporated to the outside.

Listen to your feet: Do not let foot pain ruin your winter fun; inspect your feet regularly for any evidence of ingrown toenails, bruising, swelling, blisters or calluses. If you have any issues, contact your foot and ankle surgeon.
