Shawwal moon not sighted in Pakistan, Eid-ul-Fitr on Saturday

LAHORE – The moon of month of Shawwal could not be sighted in the country, therefore, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Saturday, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced on Thursday.

This announcement was made by Chairman of the Committee Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman in Karachi tonight.

He said that any evidence of moon sighting was not received from any part of the country.

A meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee under the chairmanship of Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman was held in Karachi for the sighting of the Shawwal moon.

The formal announcement regarding Eid-ul-Fitr was made after evidence of moon sighting is collected from different parts of the country.

Besides the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, zonal committees held meetings in major cities of the country to collect evidence regarding the sighting of Shawwal moon.

Meanwhile, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated tomorrow in Middle Eastern countries including Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Turkey, and Malaysia.
