Did Lt Gen Asif Ghafoor Get Pushed To Retire From Pak Army

ISLAMABAD – Indian media outlets and social sites are buzzing with rumours about key retirements within Pakistan Army, and reports ignited discussions by claiming that four lieutenant generals, including famous Lt Gen Asif Ghafoor, President of the National Defence University (NDU), have officially retired from service.

Rediff News claimed that former DG ISPR Asif Ghafoor, and newly appointed Chairman FPSC Akhtar Satti, Lt Gen Saqib Mehmood Malik, Chief of Logistics Staff; and Lt Gen Muhammad Ali, Defence Secretary, have also retired.

The report mentioned that Pakistan Army may see three to four promotions to lieutenant general in near future.

Daily Pakistan check sources and found that the whole propaganda was pushed by Indian media while anti-government handles widely shared this on X and other sites, without confirming the development. Sources familiar with development ruled out any such development in the army.

Similar news was also shared last month in September and was covered by digital media outlets.
