Nadra to only issue smart cards from 2017

ISLAMABAD – The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has announced that it will only be issuing smart national identity cards (SNICs) from January 1, 2017, and that it will no longer be issuing normal CINCs (cards without SIM).

According to a private news channel, issuance of normal CNICs will be discontinued at executive centres of Nadra before December 31.

In addition, in direct defiance of the Interior Minister’s orders, Nadra officials at an executive centre located in the premises of the Parliament are issuing CNIC at a fees of Rs 800, which is double the normal fees of Rs 400 stipulated by Nadra.

Officials state that this is being done in order to meet the expenses of the centre.
