ECB considers hybrid model as India’s participation in Champions Trophy remains uncertain

Ecb Considers Hybrid Model As Indias Participation In Champions Trophy Remains Uncertain

The England Cricket Board (ECB) has stated that the ICC Champions Trophy is not feasible without India, and alternative options are being considered if India decides not to travel to Pakistan.

During a conversation with British journalists in Multan, ECB Chairman Richard Thompson and CEO Richard Gould said that broadcasting rights for cricket must be protected.

If India refuses to visit Pakistan, the chances of a hybrid model increase. The final decision on whether India will visit Pakistan depends on the Indian government.

Richard Thompson stated that India’s absence from the Champions Trophy would not be in the interest of cricket. Former Indian Board Secretary Jay Shah, who will soon head the ICC, will play a key role in this matter. Various options will be discussed at the upcoming ICC meetings in the next few days.

Thompson also mentioned that security concerns arise when India and Pakistan play in this region. If India and Pakistan do not play, it will severely impact broadcasting rights, which must be protected. Should such a situation arise, many options are available.

He further added that this is a significant moment for Pakistan, and he hopes the entire event will be hosted in Pakistan. The matter is between India and Pakistan, and he hopes they will find a solution.
