Pulwama massacre: Army spokesperson condemns Indian atrocities in Occupied Kashmir

RAWALPINDI — The director general of Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Major General Asif Ghafoor has condemned the state-sponsored terrorism by Indian forces in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

In a twitter post on Monday, the army’s spokesman said “bullets can never suppress unarmed brave freedom fighters”, and called on the Indian army to respect ethics of professional soldiering.

“State-sponsored terrorism by Indian Occupation Forces on innocent Kashmiris including unethical targeting of civilian population across LOC are highly condemnable. Bullets can never suppress unarmed brave Freedom Fighters. Indian Army must respect ethics of professional soldiering,” the chief of military’s media wing wrote.

Eleven Kashmiris were martyred and over 200 injured in fresh acts of state-sponsored terrorism by Indian security forces in Occupied Kashmir on Saturday. Three freedom-fighters were also killed in a gunbattle with occupation forces.

The civilians were massacred when Indian security forces opened fire at people protesting the killing of three freedom-fighters in a gunbattle in Kharpora Sarnoo village of Pulwama district.

Condemning the killing, Pakistan’s Prime Minster Imran Khan had said that ‘only dialogue, and not violence and killings, will resolve this conflict’.

A complete shutdown is being observed in Kashmir valley today for third straight day against the Pulwama killings on the weekend.

All shops and other commercial establishments are closed in Srinagar – summer capital of the Himalayan state, and elsewhere in the valley while public transport is off the roads.

Educational institutions are closed while the exams scheduled at the Kashmir University and other universities on Monday have been postponed.

Earlier today, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Secretariat General has strongly condemned the killing of innocent Kashmiris in Pulwama district of Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK) by the Indian security forces and urged the Indian government to put an end to the human rights abuses.

India has deployed over 500,000 troops in the tiny Muslim-majority region of Jammu & Kashmir.

Nearly 100,000 people have been killed in the uprising and the ensuing Indian military crackdown.
