Blasphemous cartoons fueling terrorism s fire: Ch Nisar

ISLAMABAD (APP) – Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan condemned the publishing of blasphemous cartoons in European magazines saying that the cartoons were fueling the terrorism’s fire. He said that the National Assembly of Pakistan has passed a unanimous resolution against publishing of these blasphemous cartoons, media reported.
Holding a press conference after heading the National Action Plan Committee meeting in Islamabad, Chaudhry Nisar said that religious leaders belonging to all schools of thought have vowed to cooperate with the government against terrorism. “More than 90 percent of the religious seminaries have nothing to do with terrorism”, he said. “I never said that 10 percent religious seminaries were involved in terrorism”, he clarified. He said that there are some people who say that all the seminaries were involved in terrorism, which isn’t true.
Nisar said that entire nation is united in its fight against terrorism. He said that he could see the same passion in the nation that was seen during the 1965 War. He said that there were a few differences in the details of the matter with two of the parties but fundamentally all were united against terrorism. He said that Jamiat Ulema Islam – Fazl (JUI-F) and Jamaat Islami (JI) were on the same page with the government on the question of terrorism. He said that two of the parties had shared some technical reservations regarding the 21st amendment.
“We are receiving intelligence reports that more terrorist activities may take place”, Nisar said. He asked the media to cooperate with the state of Pakistan in its war against the terrorists. He said that religious leaders and Ulema stood fast with the state in this war against terrorism. He said that the situation was tougher than the one the nation faced during the 1965 War.
Nisar said that his statement regarding ‘Naans’ was mocked at by certain quarters of the media but there was nothing funny about it. He said that he had praised the act by the owner of the hearth who had reported a person who was daily taking more than 50 Naans to his home. He said that an entire terrorist network was unearthed by that man. “Instead of following his example, people started to mock at my example”, he said.
Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leader said that Pakistan army was facing a dual challenge as India was trying to engage it in border skirmishes. “India does not seem to have good intentions regarding Pakistan. The statements issued by its leaders clearly indicate that it is not ready to let Pakistan deal with the terrorism question”, said Nisar.
Talking about the recent meeting with Us Secretary of State John Kerry, Chaudhry Nisar said that he made it clear before John Kerry that the aid previously provided by the Americans was nowhere to be seen on the table and that it must be audited. “I told Kerry that it has to be seen if the aid provided by the US for fighting the terrorism was utilized by Pakistan or was it handed over to its own people”, he said. “John Kerry admitted that the US should have reviewed the aid first”, Nisar told.
Insisting on the need for unity, Nisar said that the media, army, government, religious leaders and political parties were on one page in fighting the terrorism. He said that Pakistan will definitely win this war and rid the nation of this menace of terrorism.
