LAHORE – The Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf (PTI) led federal government has decided to give expectant fathers 10-day paternity leave for the first time in the country.
According to the ministry of human rights official, the government has approved the days limit in the paternity leave for its male employees.
Ministry of Human Rights Secretary Rabiya Javeri Agha informed that a clause has been added to the rules of the National Commission on the Status of Women in this regard, adding that pregnant female employees will be allowed to have 90-day maternity leaves.
The newly added clause states that “a male employee in regular service shall be allowed paternity leave for a period of 10 days with full pay and allowances outside his leave account from the date of his wife’s confinement.”
