Complaint filed against Bollywood singer over loudspeakers tweet in Aurangabad

A written complaint was filed against singer Sonu Nigam in Marathwada’s Aurangabad over his tweets complaining about the use of loudspeakers for broadcasting azan and sermons.

The head of a local religious organization Nadeem Rana approached the Jinsi Police Station with a written complaint against Nigam, the official said.

After the tweet, Muslim cleric Syed Sha Atef Ali Al Quadri made an announcement saying that,’If anyone can shave his hair, put a garland of old torn shoes around his neck and tour him around the country, I personally announce an award of Rs 10 lakh for that person.”

In response, Nigam got his head tonsured by a celebrity hairstylist at a press conference, and tweeted again:

 


The 43-year-old singer had described the use of loudspeakers for broadcasting sermons and calls to prayers as hooliganism.

Sonu Nigam has attempted to defending his action by saying that he is not anti-Muslim.
