Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) celebrated with religious reverence
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Eid Milad-un-Nabi (Peace Be Upon Him) was celebrated across the country and Azad Jammu and Kashmir Thursday with religious reverence and fervour.

The day commenced with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salutes in provincial capitals.

Processions were taken out and Milad gatherings were held to mark the occasion. Speakers shed light on the Holy Prophet (PBUH)’s life and teachings. They exhorted the people to mould their lives in accordance with the Seerah un Nabi (way and life of the Holy Prophet PBUH).

Major mosques in cities and towns were tastefully illuminated. District administrations, government and private organisations had also made elaborate arrangements for illumination and decoration of buildings and parks.

The government had declared the day a public holiday.

The annual National Seerah Conference was held in the federal capital to highlight the teachings and Seerah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Grand Mufti of Turkey Rahmi Yaran was the chief guest.

President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, in their messages, called upon the nation to resolve all issues through reconciliation and dialogue in keeping with the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

The Prime Minister said: “Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) described all Muslims as a single body. Our survival and progress lie in consensus, unity and consultation.

“Our Prophet gave us all the highest standards of teachings that can be required and also demonstrated all that through his acts. He did not ask for anything which he did not act upon.”

Security also remained on high alert in order to avoid any untoward incident on the occasion.

Administrations of Islamabad and Rawalpindi had made elaborate security arrangements for Eid Milad-un Nabi celebrations. Leaves of Rescue 1122 officials and police were cancelled.

A number of temporary stalls were set up in many streets across the towns where the sale of badges, stickers and flags was going on.
