25 million dollars were paid to a news channel by RAW, Ex Indo-Pak chiefs reveal how agencies use media

LAHORE – 25 million dollars were paid to an Indian channel by RAW to feed the public its propaganda, revealed Former ISI Chief Lt General Muhammad Asad Durrani in his book The Spy Chronicles RAW, ISI and the Illusion of Peace. The book is co-authored by former Indian spy chief Amrit Singh Dulat.

He revealed about RAW’s role in spreading anti-Pakistan agenda after Journalist Aditya Sinha, who is also the moderator for the conversation between the former spy chiefs, asked about the use of media by agencies.

While responding to this question Durrani said, “One thing in common between the two are the media wars. They even finance TV channels in the belief that these will work for them. They have no idea how to go about it. The first such channel was an Indian one, it was paid.”

The channel was sponsored “by RAW. If I remember correctly, 25 million dollars. In those days it was not a small figure,” Durrani added.

According to former spy chief, the channel was launched to initiate a psychological war. In his own words, “To start a channel to work for RAW. This is what intelligence agencies everywhere believe, that the media must be financed to wage psychological warfare.”

Durrani also blamed CIA to persuade media and gathering journalists to bash Pakistan.

However, the co-author of the book and former RAW Chief Dulat said that he has no knowledge about the matter.
