Pakistan s civil-military leadership replies to Indian agression and illegal threats

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday reiterated that India’s torture on the Kashmiris for their right to self-determination, promised by UN resolutions, will never be tolerated adding that the oppressed Kashmiris deserve not only Pakistan’s support but also the support of the entire world.

Addressing at the meeting held in Islamabad, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif maintained that Pakistan will continue to extend its moral and diplomatic support to Kashmiris until the issue of Kashmir is resolved as per aspirations of Kashmiri people.

Responding to Indian Prime Minister’s hollow decision to revoke the Indus Water Treaty, the PM said that the Indus Water Treaty was mutually agreed arrangement between India and Pakistan brokered by the World Bank in 1960 and no one country can unilaterally separate itself from the treaty.

The Prime Minister asserted that the world is a witness that Pakistan has given tremendous sacrifices for global peace. Pakistan has shown unequaled and unprecedented restraint despite great provocation, PM added.

Maintaining that Pakistan will continue to strive for a peaceful South Asia with a view to enable its people the progress and prosperity of the 21st century, the meeting agreed at the same time that Pakistan is fully capable of meeting any internal or external security threat with the complete resolve of its people and valiant armed forces.

The meeting was attended by Chief of Army staff General Raheel Sharif, Federal Minister for Interior Ch. Nisar Ali, Minister for Finance Mr. Ishaq Dar, National Security Advisor General (R) Nasir Janjua, Foreign secretary, DGMO and senior civil and military officials.

The meeting also reviewed other matters pertaining to national and regional security. The Participants expressed satisfaction over the preparedness of the armed forces to defend the territorial integrity of Pakistan.
