HUNZA – A group of 6 Pakistani girls was able to reach the summit of 5300m Shifkteen Sar in Shimshal Valley, Hunza on Tuesday.
This is a first female team to have climbed up the peak from its north side.
The team, all students of Shimshal Mountaineering School, included Hafeeza Bano, Afasana Shahid, Shakeela Numah, Nadeema Sehar, Samreen Afiyat and Zubaida Waheed.
The peak straddles the Shimshal Pass bordering China and requires strenuous practice and that too by the all-female team.

Over a dozen mountaineers including Rajab Shah, Mehrban Shah, Subedar Yousuf Khan, Mohammedullah, Qurban Mohammed, Wahab Ali Shah, Sarwar Ali, Aziz Baig, and others have scaled most of the five highest peaks in Pakistan.
Earlier, three young girls from Pakistan have earned themselves a world record by scaling a 6,080-metre Manglessar peak in the Shimshal valley in Karakoram mountain range.
