LAHORE – World No Tobacco Day (WNTD) is observed around the world every year on 31 May. The main motive behind the observation of the day is to encourage smokers to stay away from their favourite friend for a minimum of 24 hours at the very least.
Past events have included letter writing campaigns to government officials and local newspapers, marches, public debates, local and national publicity campaigns, anti-tobacco activist meetings, educational programming, and public art.
Latest data from the WHO report indicates that there are around 1.1 billion smokers in the world today. Tobacco use is falling globally but it still kills more than seven million people a year.
Why not start with trying to kick the habit for 24 hours?
