Gen Raheel Sharif, Joe Biden for resumption of reconciliation process in Afghanistan

WASHINGTON (Staff Report) – Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif and US Vice President Joe Biden have stressed on earliest resumption of reconciliation process for long-term peace and stability in Afghanistan.

According to DG ISPR Lt-General Asim Saleem Bajwa, the army chief on Friday visited White House to hold meeting with Joe Biden, where both leaders discussed the matters of mutual interest including regional security and Pak-US ties.

During the meeting US Vice President appreciated the role of Pakistan in fight against terrorism and extended his will to enhance level of cooperation.

Pakistan has been playing crucial role in curbing militancy and have sacrifice in terms of human lives and economic loss, he said.

On the occasion, Mr Joe Biden reiterated firm commitment of United States to work closely with Pakistan in all fields of mutual fields of interest and deepen their degree of coordination to face new challenges.

General Raheel Sharif also conveyed strong Pakistani perspective on regional security and peace stressing that it must be understood by the US side.
