WASHINGTON (Staff Report) – United States has urged both Pakistan and India to resolve their conflicts through dialogue, saying that it remains highly concerned about events of violence along Line of Control (LoC).
Addressing a press briefing, the State Department spokesman John Kirby said that it is totally up to India and Pakistan to begin talks however. We just want both sides to reduce tensions and deal with each other through talks, he added.
When asked whether John Kerry and Pakistani army chief General Raheel Sharif took up matters like Kashmir and Mumbai attacks in their meeting, Kirby refused to comment saying that he doesn’t have detail of every single thing discussed in the meeting.
To another question about Raheeel Sharif’s visit, he said that this tour was part of Pak-US regular bilateral dialogue as both countries have a very complex relationship over the years.
US Foreign Secretary John Kerry believes that a close partnership between Pakistan and United States is necessary for enduring peace and stability in South Asian region, he said.
Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif visited United States on a five-day trip, from where is scheduled to head to Brazil on Friday.
