Karachi Launches Smart Ticketing Facility For Green And Orange Lines

In a groundbreaking development for public transportation in Pakistan, Karachi’s Green and Orange Lines have officially launched a smart ticketing facility, enabling passengers to purchase bus tickets using debit and credit cards. This innovative system marks the first instance of smart ticketing being implemented in any mass transit system across the country.

The facility was inaugurated by Dr. Sarosh Hashmat Lodhi, Vice Chancellor of NED University and a board member of the Sindh Infrastructure Development Company Limited (SIDCL). During the launch, Dr. Lodhi emphasized the benefits of utilizing advanced technology to enhance the passenger experience.

“This smart ticketing system will simplify the travel process for Green Line passengers,” Dr. Lodhi stated. “At all stations, passengers will be able to load funds onto their passenger cards using their debit or credit cards, making the ticketing process more efficient and user-friendly.”

Abdul Aziz, the Operations Manager for the Green Line Bus Service, highlighted the significance of this facility, noting that it is a first for Pakistan’s metro services. He explained that passengers can now easily acquire bus tickets with any bank’s debit or credit card, significantly improving convenience for commuters.

The introduction of smart ticketing in Karachi’s public transport system is expected to streamline the ticket purchasing process, reduce waiting times, and enhance the overall efficiency of the city’s mass transit operations. This initiative reflects a growing commitment to modernizing public transportation and providing residents with a more accessible and seamless travel experience.
