ISLAMABAD – Another weather system is set to unleash heavy rains and powerful windstorms across Lahore, Punjab, and parts of county, prompting red alerts and emergency warnings from authorities.
In its advisory, Met Office said dry and humid weather is expected in most parts of the province while rain-wind and thundershower are expected at isolated places in Murree, Galiyat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Kasur, Okara, Sahiwal, Bahawalnagar and D.G. Khan.
Moist currents from Arabian Sea are penetrating lower parts of the country while a westerly wave is also present over northern parts of the Country.
Monsoon Rains Update
In Punjab, the fifth monsoon wave is gearing up to unleash heavy rains. PDMA issued a separate warning for urban flooding across Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, and beyond from July 28 to 31.
Authorities sounded alarm from July 27 to 31, as violent spell of monsoon rains is expected to strike key districts of Kashmir, threatening flash floods, landslides, and infrastructure damage.
Residents and tourists have been warned to evacuate risky areas, avoid riverbanks, and secure fragile rooftops, walls, and solar panels. The SDMA has instructed all emergency units to remain on high alert, fearing that mud homes and weak structures may not withstand the expected onslaught.
Officials mobilized disaster response teams, while urging citizens to stay indoors, follow safety advisories, and prepare for power outages and communication breakdowns.
With millions potentially in the storm’s path, Pakistan stares down the barrel of a high-impact weather crisis — one that may test both its resilience and emergency readiness.
