Nawaz rubs salt in PTI wounds after resounding success in AJK polls

MUZAFARABAD – After the landslide victory of PML-N in the Azad Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly elections, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif took a dig at his political rivals during a public address in the special constitutional zone, saying “Will those who grabbed merely two seats in the Azad Kashmir polls, be able to run a movement in the country?”

He also added, “Progress and success in politics are attainable only through development, not through sit-ins.”

He stated that his victory in the elections crushed and repudiated all the attempts by other parties to conduct negative politics.

Local elections were held peacefully on Thursday, after a “black day” was observed to protest the killing of dozens of civilians during protests in occupied Kashmir. The largest street protests in years erupted after Indian troops on July 8 killed Burhan Wani, the popular 22-year-old leader of Kashmir’s largest militant liberation group.
