LONDON (Web Desk) – Pakistani-British broadcaster Mishal Husain was awarded as “Broadcaster of the Year” at the London Press Club awards.
She succeeded to win this glory against other contestants that include: Channel 4 News’ Matt Frei, BBC social affairs correspondent Alison Holt and BBC global health reporter Tulip Mazumdar.
‘It’s wonderful and much deserved,’ said the BBC’s director of news James Harding.
She received congratulations from the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) on Twitter as well as her followers and fellow nominees, who said the award was richly-deserved.
Husain thanked everyone for the congratulatory messages on Twitter and said that she was proud to be among her fellow nominees.
Born in Northampton to a Pakistan family, she has previously worked on a number of projects. She started her career in media industry with Bloomberg Television in London in 1996, where she was used to be a producer and occasionally a presenter.
She has worked for BBC World news and BBC news channel. She also reported from across the world and was the BBC Washington’s correspondent during the invasion of Iraq, and also reported from Cairo during the Egyptian revolution movements and China to cover Beijing Olympics.
She had also been named in Britain’s 50 most influential and powerful Muslim women in 2009.
