KARACHI – Pakistan Oilfields Limited (POL), the country’s third-largest explorer, has said it has discovered new oil and gas reserves from its onshore block in district Kohat.
In a filing with the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), it has stated that new reserves have been found in eastern Makori wells of Tal block, adding that the production would be started by February 2018.
As per initial investigation, the new discovery will produce crude oil amounting to 1,817 barrels per day and gas amounting to 4.63 MMscfd.
In October, the company made a significant oil and gas discovery in its Ikhlas Block, located in northern Potwar, about 83 kilometer southwest of Islamabad in Attock district.
The Tal oil and gas field accounts for 20 percent of Pakistan’s oil production, amounting to 17,000 barrels per day. Six discoveries have been made in the block, the first in 2002 and the most recent in 2011.
