Govt halts executions in Ramazan

ISLAMABAD (APP) – The government on Saturday imposed a ban on executions during holy month of Ramazan.

The Federal Interior Ministry has issued a notification and provincial governments have also been requested to comply with the order.

The federal government had lifted the moratorium on the death penalty on Dec 17, 2014, in terrorism related cases only. Later, the government completely reinstated capital punishment for all offences that entail the death penalty.
