Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan has addressed how he plans to divide his estate among his children in a recent interview that has resurfaced amid ongoing speculation about his family’s affairs.

The interview, originally conducted in 2011, has gained renewed attention following recent rumors about his son Abhishek Bachchan and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s marital status. In the interview, Bachchan revealed his intention to split his estate equally between his daughter, Shweta Bachchan Nanda, and his son, Abhishek Bachchan.

“I have made a firm decision that I will not differentiate between my children,” Bachchan stated. “Whatever I possess will be divided equally between Shweta and Abhishek. This was a decision Jaya and I made a long time ago.”

Bachchan emphasized that despite traditional views often placing daughters in a separate category regarding inheritance, Shweta has the same rights as her brother. “Everyone says daughters are separate, but in my view, she is our daughter and deserves the same rights as Abhishek,” he added.

In a notable gesture last year, Amitabh Bachchan gifted his daughter Shweta the family bungalow ‘Jalsa,’ valued at approximately 50 crore rupees at the time. This move underscored his commitment to equality between his children.

The Bachchan family has recently made headlines again, as Amitabh Bachchan was ranked as the fourth richest Bollywood personality on the Hurun India Rich List 2024. According to the list, the combined wealth of the Bachchan family amounts to 1600 crore rupees.

Amitabh Bachchan’s clear and equitable approach to his estate distribution reflects his enduring principles of fairness and unity within his family, reinforcing his values of justice and equality.
