Army helicopter crash kills 12 on board

MANSEHRA (Staff Report) – A helicopter of Army Aviation has crashed near Lasan Nawab area in Mansehra killing all twelve people on board, the deputy commissioner Amir Khatak said on Thursday.

The helicopter, MI-17, crashed because of technical problem and bad weather while it was en route to Gilgit from Rawalpindi, he further informed.

The helicopter was carrying an eight member medical team of Pakistan Army to join the ongoing rescue operation in flood hit areas of Gilgit.

A situation of emergency has been declared following the tragedy and dead bodies were shifted nearby hospital in Mansehra.
