LAHORE – A disturbing video of animal abuse has caused online outrage, with Animal rights activists calling out a group of men throwing a dog from a residential building.
The disturbing incident occurred in Karachi’s Liaquatabad area and the clip led to calls for immediate action to protect stray animals from such horrific acts.
The clip widely doing rounds online shows people fling poor canine off the terrace because they were upset that homeless dogs were coming near apartments.
After outrage, a janitor identified as Qasim has been arrested while a case has been registered under Section 5 and Section 428 of the Pakistan Penal Code at the Sharifabad police station.
The clip prompted response from showbiz stars including actor Nadia Afgan who urged the government, police, and activists to take action against animal cruelty.
Animal cruelty in Pakistan is a long remaining issue marked by physical abuse, and illegal activities like dog fighting. Despite existing laws, enforcement is often lax. Cultural attitudes that view animals as inferior contribute to this problem.
