Petition seeks ban on cricketers taking families on overseas tours

Advocate Faisal Waheed has approached the Lahore High Court, naming the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Chief Selector, Team Manager, Head Coach, and Captain Babar Azam as respondents.

The petitioner, a Pakistani citizen, argued that the national cricket team’s performance in the recent T20 World Cup was disappointing, noting that Pakistan even lost to the relatively new American team. He highlighted that significant public funds are spent on the Pakistan cricket team, yet their underwhelming performance has led to widespread disappointment among fans.

The petition requests the court to summon details of the expenses incurred during the team’s overseas tours, including salaries and perks of officials. It also calls for a ban on cricketers and officials taking their families on international tours.

The case underscores growing concerns over the allocation of resources and the national team’s accountability in light of recent defeats.
