ISLAMABAD – Chinese Premier Li Qiang stated that China will continue to play a role in Pakistan’s development.

He expressed these views while addressing a signing ceremony held for various agreements between Pakistan and China, attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Both prime ministers virtually inaugurated Gwadar International Airport during the ceremony.

During the ceremony, documents were exchanged between the two countries regarding smart classrooms, the 7th Joint Working Group meeting on Gwadar under CPEC, and human resource development.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed for cooperation in the information and communication sectors, as well as in the water resources sector. Documents were also exchanged to enhance cooperation in the security sector between both nations.

In his address, Premier Li Qiang praised the efforts of the Pakistani and Chinese workforce in completing the project, calling the airport’s completion a significant milestone.

He emphasized that Gwadar is not only a hub for regional development but also a symbol of the strong friendship between the two countries.

Li Qiang reiterated that China will continue to contribute to Pakistan’s development, stating that the prosperity of Pakistan’s people is close to their hearts, and the strategic partnership between the two nations is deepening over time.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his address, highlighted the numerous MoUs exchanged between Pakistan and China in sectors such as industry, agriculture, and trade. He added that these bilateral agreements are opening a new chapter in the friendship between the two nations.

He acknowledged China’s firm commitment to Pakistan’s development and praised its significant role in advancing the country’s economic agenda. Shehbaz Sharif noted that Gwadar International Airport is a testament to the strong friendship between Pakistan and China, calling it another flower added to the bouquet of CPEC. He also appreciated the efforts of engineers and workers from both countries in completing the project.
