LAHORE (Staff Report) – As many as six Pakistani universities have been ranked among world’s top 800 universities in the latest ranking published by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) for year 2015-16.
All six Pakistani universities have been ranked below 500.
The universities included National University of Sciences And Technology (NUST) Islamabad, Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad, Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) Lahore, University of Engineering & Technology (UET) Lahore, University of Karachi Karachi and The University of Lahore Lahore.
National University of Sciences And Technology (NUST) Islamabad has been placed at number 501 worldwide and 119th in the Asian University Rankings. The university was previously ranked 401 worldwide.
Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad and Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) Lahore were ranked 651 and 701 worldwide. The universities were respectively placed at number 116th and 161st among Asian universities.
Lahore’s The University of Lahore (UOL), University of Engineering & Technology (UET) and Karachi’s University of Karachi are ranked at 701 number while they are respectively 251st in Asian universities.
Meanwhile 14 Indian universities made it to among 800 top universities two of them in the top 200 for the first time.
Moreover 5 universities of United States, four from United Kingdom and one university from Switzerland made it to top ten universities of world. Their names are as following:
1) Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
2) Harvard University
3) University of Cambridge
4) Stanford University
5) California Institute of Technology (CALTECH)
6) University of Oxford
7) University College London UCL
8) Imperial College London
9) Eth Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology)
10) University of Chicago
