MUZAFFARABAD (Staff Report) – An Azad Jammu and Kashmir minister has demanded of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to step down following the Panama leaks scandal.
“Now the prime minister should resign from his office forthwith as he has lost the confidence of the masses and it is morally obligatory on him the step down,” said AJK Information Minister Abid Hussain Abid, who is also the government spokesperson.
He told Online that because the international scandal prime ministers and leaders of other countries have shown courage and quit their offices. “As many as 12 key leaders have withdrawn from their posts so far which include Iceland, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Spain and Germany,” he said, asking PM Nawaz to follow suit and quit the office.
“The Panama leaks cannot be swept under the carpet and it has adversely affected reputation of the PML-N in AJK. This has triggered grave concern among the people of AJK,” he added.
“The PML-N will have to suffer crushing defeat in the upcoming elections in AJK due to the Panama leaks issue,” he further claimed.
