KARACHI – Experts have spotted six whales of a rare species at the Karachi coast on Wednesday, Geo TV reported.
Moazzam Khan, a spokesperson for World Wide Fund (WWF-Pakistan) said, the humpback whales which were spotted at the coast are extremely rare. “Only 82 humpback whales exist in the world”, he added.
These giant creatures may grow as big as 52 feet and weigh as much as 30,000 KG.
In summers they stay in polar waters, and in winters migrate to tropical or subtropical waters. The humpback whales feed on small fish.
